New Membership Contest
The lifeblood of any organization is its membership. In order for us to progress as a group and have a positive effect on our primary goal of improving the northwoods fisheries we need to grow as an organization. We are reaching out to everyone in our chapter to help with this goal and provide some incentives to those who carry the ball. Between now and our spring Kickoff Meeting in April we are asking you to help recruit new members. When you get someone to join the club there is a space on the membership application called “Sponsor”. Have your new member enter your name in this space. We will be providing prizes for the top three sponsors. You will need a minimum of 5 new members to qualify for this contest. The person who recruits the most new members will receive a rod and reel combo package. Second place will receive a $200.00 gift card to Rollie & Helen’s Musky Shop and third place will receive a $100.00 gift card. If you have questions on how to sign up a new member or need membership applications check with Nicholas Mac Donald at nmacd1984@yahoo.com . You can also find membership applications online at the Northwoods Muskies website.
Youth Ice Fishing Outing
Northwoods Muskies is happy to announce our first youth oriented outing. We will have an ice fishing outing for kids on February 22. Some of the details are being worked on and finalized but please consider bringing your kids to this event. The location will be Stacks Bay on Lake Minocqua. We will be providing hot cocoa and kid friendly food to keep everyone happy. Fishing gear will be available for those who may not have gear and bait will be provided. Nicholas Mac Donald our new Youth Activities Chairman will be taking the lead on this outing. More details will be available soon so watch the website, Facebook Page, and your emails for more info.
Annual Fishing Contest
As reported in the last newsletter we encourage you to register your fish catches in the Lunge Log. This can be easily accomplished online at the Muskies Inc. website. We will be recognizing Lunker of the Month winners as well as providing a trophy for the largest fish registered this year. Muskies Inc. guidelines will be used for determining fish points, winners, etc. John Bennett will be the contact for this contest.
Northwoods Musky Open Tournament
The June 28th inaugural Northwoods Musky Open Fundraising Tournament is getting closer! This fun and family oriented one-day single entry format has something for everyone. A variety of lake groups with different conditions to fish and a low-key, friendly atmosphere are among the many things we hope to make into tradition with this tournament and we’re counting on all our M.I. brothers and sisters to help us make it a reality on the fourth Saturday in June- this year and every year after. Tournament hours are from 6AM to 4PM. The Musky Shop in Minocqua will be awarding over $1000 in gift cards for first, second and third place finishers at our awards ceremony and post-tournament get together. The angler fortunate enough to catch the longest musky of the tournament will be in for another great catch too. Fittante Taxidermy has graciously donated a graphite replica of the longest fish caught in the tournament. We hope you’ll join us to kick off your summer by fishing for conservation!
Membership Renewals
Many of our members will be coming up for renewal now or in the near future. Help us keep the momentum of our first year gong and renew your membership promptly.
Wisconsin Musky Expo
Northwoods Chapter will have a booth at the Wisconsin Musky Expo at the Patriot Center in Wausau on February 28 – March 2. We are seeking volunteers to man the booth for a couple hours at a time during the show hours. If you are planning on attending the show and can afford an hour or two to help your club please contact Mike Sasse for scheduling info.
