Recap of the 2018 Northwoods Muskies Inc. Spring Awards and Membership Meeting
We would like to thank the folks at the Norwood Pines Supper Club for providing the venue for our spring award and membership meeting on April 10, 2018. We at NMI would also like to thank DNR Vilas County Fisheries Biologist, Hadley Boehm for giving a very informative presentation on the status and future of our area muskie and other fisheries. Following her presentation, Hadley answered many questions from our members. The spring meeting was very well attended and I am sure all who were there would agree it was as informative as it was enjoyable.
At the meeting, the 2017 Members Only Fishing Contest winners were announced and awards were presented. The big fish winner and also July lunker of the month winner was Nick Durkee with a 53-inch muskie. Dan Gropengiser won the lunker of the month for both May and June 2017 with 41 and 47-inch muskies. Mike Sasse took the August lunker of the month with a 49-inch fish. Larry Porter’s 44-inch muskie was the September 2017 lunker of the month winner. Sig Kaminski won the October lunker of the month with a 45 ½-inch muskie. Lastly, Todd Shultz 50-inch fish was the lunker of the month for November.
Fish registration for the 2018 Members Only Fishing Contest ended on December 31st 2018. The 2018 big fish and lunker of the month contest winners will be announced by NMI at a later date.
