Remembering a Muskie Legend

Legendary northwoods guide, Tony Rizzo of Star Lake passed away at age 83 on September 18, 2018. Tony was a NMI member and we felt fortunate to have him as our guest speaker at our annual winter banquet on January 23, 2016.

Tony owned the Silver Musky Resort on Star Lake and was a muskie guide in the area for over 60 years. He was inducted into the National Fresh Water Hall of Fame with over 4,000 muskies boated, including many line class records. He was the author of the book Secrets of a Muskie Guide as well as hundreds of magazine articles. In addition, Tony developed many muskie lures that are still popular today including the Rizzo Whiz. Tony was larger than life and will be missed by all that knew him.

Northwoods Muskies Inc. supports the fisheries of Vilas and Oneida Counties, youth fishing programs, as well as social and educational initiatives throughout the calendar year.
